JET-related special interest groups (SIGs) and social groups have no AJET affiliation, but are largely created by and for the JET community. Below are a few SIGs, and you can find AJET’s list of other SIGs and unaffiliated social groups here: click me

AJET Stonewall Japan

AJET Stonewall Japan

AJET Stonewall Japan provides a safe space for the both the foreign and Japanese LGBTQ community and their allies in Japan. Their goal is to nurture the sense of community around Japan by hosting events, providing resources for getting along in Japan, and maintaining online communication forums, such as Facebook and Twitter.

JETs AD (JETs of African Descent)

JETs AD (JETs of African Descent)

This group is open to all and focuses on topics related to JETs of African Descent (JETs AD). This group serves as a platform for discussion, support, and announcements relating to the JET community at-large. They aim to provide useful information and share resources on hard-to-find hair and beauty products, foreign foods, events, ways to stay connected, and other topics relevant to our demographic. ¡Hola!JETs

¡Hola! Special Interest Group for JETs of Latin and Hispanic descent is open to all and focuses on topics related to JETs of Hispanic/Latino descent. They hope to create a community in which one can find peer support, find useful resources, as well as to spread cultural understanding and knowledge within Japan. This group is open to anyone who is interested and wishes to experience the Hispanic/Latino culture through social events, discussions, activities, etc.

JET Christian Fellowship

JET Christian Fellowship

JCF exists to encourage and support Christian participants of the JET program by helping them connect with local churches as well as other Christians living in Japan. On their web site they have information on a wide variety of topics, like joining a JCF retreat or Bible study and prayer groups that take place over the internet via Skype.

API AJET

API AJET

API AJET, is a special interest group committed to providing peer support to the Asian Pacific Islander (API) community in Japan, as well as to raise local and global awareness about the diverse range of issues that face this community. The group is open to all who wish to share experiences and/or promote cross­-cultural understanding.

Canada National Group

Canada National Group

This group is a network of Canadian JETs who wish to exchange information and ideas, as well as promote Canada inside and outside of the classroom. The aim is to share lessons related to Canada, Canadian cultural resources, and information particular to Canadians in Japan. Follow the group on Twitter (@CanadaNG) or Facebook for updates and Canadian tidbits to share with your students, teachers and friends.

Muslims in JET

Muslims in JET

This group was created so that Muslim JETs have a community where they can share resources and provide each other support and advice. They also sometimes hold social events and activities. They hope to build global knowledge, enhance cross-cultural understanding and advocate for the Muslim JET community in Japan.
